My Epic: Skiing & Snowboarding Examine App

Digital ticket didn’t scan on multiple days, GPS tracking works 50% of the time, lifts ridden misses multiple lifts on most days, lift wait times are 5-10 minutes off in either direction, and the weather doesn’t match NOAA, the mountain’s own website or reality. So other than the most important features working poorly, it’s perfect.

Epic Mix does very little of what it is supposed to do. Why bother?

Tracking is poor with my iPhone X

I keep being logged out with each update. It’s a good app bit this has to be fixed, it’s very annoying if you have to lookup your password every time

Best app of its kind. Need a little work on the GPS tracking but I can count my own ski runs.

This app is very frustrating to use. It is not accurate at all. It either over counts my runs or under counts. I hate to say, it is useless! Very disappointing since I like to track my skiing stats, Please improve functionality of this app!

Buggy app

This app is amazing as an epic pass holder is extremely useful for checking what trails are open and it even tracks your run. If you want there is also mountain cams so you can see how the mountain looks 5 STARS!!!

Its getting better and better. I would only suggest to add an option (feature) to download your statistics so some user can do their own analysis.

I’ve found features like the friend finder where a friend sends you a link not to work at all.

Can’t clear my alerts. Confusing app. Difficult to navigate buying buddy tickets.

1) Bring back the stickers 2) Add a mileage tracker and a GPS speedometer 3) Add a stay logged in option. I’m sick of logging back in to my SKI app!

It only works some of the time. Horrible experience with GPS at Vail

The biggest improvement to make to the app is to make the open trails more distinguished from unopened.

Even though I turned it on in the morning and it was running all day… no GPS data was collected. This has happened on three separate ski days. You need to TEST features before you roll them out. Shameful, sloppy development.

GPS tracking worked 25 days and the last four days I’ve used it. It says no GPS data …. My other app works just fine and tracks me all day, tried reinstalling the app and signing in and out of the app, still nothing, season’s over so please fix it by next year.

Old app version was way better. Tracked better and saved our pics. All pics for 10 years are gone and data was all lost. Needs to be automatic

Statistics are hopelessly wrong.

Statistics tracking gets worse every year.

We spend hours trying to connect with friends, could not get it to work.

The RFID badges used to work, but now are lucky to track half of your runs at best. Switched to GPS tracking on app. Not as bad as the badge but still misses runs on a daily basis. Maybe ask Ikon how to fix the app issues.

Tracking of vertical feet is not accurate at all this season, big bummer

This is my first time with an epic pass (all access )for my daughter who is seven and myself we visited all of the northeast resorts as well as two in the mid Atlantic. I didn’t have an issue with overcrowding except on Saturdays. We Very much enjoyed the season, but decided not to renew when I saw how much they marked the price up, it Felt better supporting the local independent mountains, who chose not to price gouge at renewal time .Thank you, Val for a truly great season . If you change your pricing structure I may consider coming back in the future. Thank you.

My malware detection app detected a blocked domain called “mountain.live” every time I opened this app.

Why can’t I simply click a button or two and see the dates and resorts I skied this season???? Ugh.

The black boxes at the bottom of the lifts do not work half the times.

They need to rework the tracking function of the app.

The most recent release(s) introduced in-app notifications, but there’s no way to mark them as Read so the app constantly appears as if there’s something new to view. The proximity phone pass scan that they do at Vail is a major step back as well. It rarely works and slows down the line when people need to subsequently pull their phones out of their pockets.

Olympic at Heavenly hasn’t been working for tracking all season. I contacted Heavenly early and never got a response

I really like having the app scan for my phone so I don’t have to bring a pass along. However, the vertical stats are often off. For example, yesterday my companion recorded 19 lift rides and mine only recorded 10.

Very tracker first work consistently.

Been using this app alongside Strava and another and I find that the epic app doesn’t track vertical feet as well, plus I occasionally have issues with the GPS tracking showing which runs I’ve actually skied. The epic app works well enough for basic overall days, skied and vertical. But is lacking in terms of additional data points like average/top speed, for example. I find it a number of occasions the app hasn’t what I’m doing and that’s a little bit frustrating if I want to know how much vertical I’m actually getting in on a day. Other than that, it’s pretty good in terms of showing resort info, terrain, status, maps.

Does not get all my runs. It may be where my pass is, but I never get credit for all my runs. The ikon app shows all the runs you go on and the others in your party. Epic app is not as good.

I’m sure it’s isolated, but the epic app hasn’t recorded a single run over the last six weeks. I recommend Slopes.

The app is terrible. I skied today and registered nothing. Other day it doesn’t reflect all that I skied. Junk app

This app has multiple issues, it rarely reports your activities correctly no matter if you use gps tracking or not. It constantly shows alerts late and doesn’t clear the toast icons. It will pop multiple alerts for food ads and other useless stuff but the basics don’t even work! Vail resorts, this is a rotten experience!

Totally inaccurate activity tracking

This app does not work with Apple Watch.

GPS tracking worked only 50% of the time and friend tracking worked less than that and gave hour old locations frequently when it did work. Tried at 3 mountains with the same problems. Lift wait times would be nice but didn't seem to reflect reality when at Whistler at least. The app also showed lifts as open that were closed and vice versa. The ideas are great implementation not so much. Wish you could also export the data to other apps and apple health too...but please just make the existing functionality actually work before adding new features!

When first announced, I thought this would be great. A perfect way to keep your pass with you at all times. Wow well intended, it is poorly tested, and should have remained in beta. Ready for prime time. One of the smartest things that bail ever did was getting skiers hooked on tracking their vertical. With the hard pass it worked very well because it was passive and required. No guest interaction. This app is unreliable in the passive mode and the very idea of requiring the skier to think about turning on the GPS for every ski day goes totally counter to the original concept. Space furthermore, if you don't turn off the Bluetooth and the location tracking in the app, it will interfere or coexist with the hard card, resulting in lost vertical and the inability to really track well. I've tried using it as a source of information and for use mountain dining and resort charge but with the services I mentioned turned off it does not function well. I'm about ready to simply delete it. please put it back in Testing and make it so that it will work passively. The Technology is there with Deerfield sensing that One should not have to turn on tracking on a daily basis to get something approaching accurate vertical. This does not come anywhere near living up to what Dale claims to be very high standards.

App does pick up all my vertical feet and lifts taken. Did 1 million feet where do I purchase my tee shirt

Too many lifts did not get read - even when taking extra time at the readers. Please increase the reader strength!

EVERYTIME you type it shakes like it's an app why is it shaking it's sad fix your stuuff

NorthStar notifications have stopped for weeks. Deleting/reinstalling app doesn’t work. Neither does turning on notifications in Settings.
